Blatant Animal Crossing Copy Appears on PlayStation Store

This looks like another newly released indie game in the PlayStation Store. It seems that the game was very inspired by Animal Crossing, which made the developers get the game dismissed as an obvious clone of Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Some new games are inspired by the Animal Crossing franchise every year. As far as some of the titles are concerned, they just borrow the best parts of the Nintendo series as a model, but they are actually innovating in other areas. Indie games that just want to clone the franchise are not many, but they do exist.

Anime Life Sim is one highly anticipated indie game not flashed on the new PlayStation Store listing when it was first seen, but people were "wow"ed" by it. People played jokes on it and went on comparing it with Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Enjoyment of the game is a must, as is the ability to take a break. The project description states that this is a project of IndieGames3000-studio, and the company has already had lots of hits in different genres.

Naturally, there is a game description on the PS Store that already gives a good hint at what we can see. In other words, this game copy could be close to unoriginal Nintendo's game from 2020 Switch. It says that it is a social simulation that you will have to ride on all the way, build your own home, talk to animal neighbors, and engage in daily activities like fishing, bug catching, gardening, crafting, and fossil hunting. None of these concepts is new.

Making use of legal confidence that comes with an Internet-based source, as qualified patent expert Florian Mueller unfolds, none of the wordings of a computer program's performance can be granted anywhere in the world. Ergo, in this context, almost anyone could use the title and make it Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Yet, things get into deep areas such as dissemination and publishing of visuals and arts. These are the exacting areas that can easily touch copyright law in many areas. That having been said, if Nintendo wanted to intimidate IndieGames3000-studio from releasing the title, they might take legal action against mentioning how similar the title is to Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

The fact that Nintendo is the most litigious of the video game companies has been widely known for a long time. That said, it is quite ambiguous if Nintendo will pursue the allegation against this futuristic project since perhaps the game was not going to be on the radar of the console maker eventually. Moreover, this new life sim under the same genre as the previous one will be launched in February 2026 in its PS Store. It is unclear if PS4 will launch the game or if it will be limited to PS5.
